Just before Xmas I had a request from a couple who's wedding I photographed back in 2009. Back in those days I didnt include a disc of images as an integral part of the package that I offered, and Victoria was keen to get some digital files to keep on record of their wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn in Cheshire.It was really interesting to see how much my style of shooting a wedding has changed over the intervening 5 years - and how much digital technology has changed in that short space of time. For the gear heads amongst you this was shot mainly on an original Canon 5D - and it was pretty tough to take the "film speed" over 1600 - which back then was pretty quick. Now, with cameras being able to be used in very dark venues with outstanding results without flash, the opportunities to capture so many more useable images is far greater. I was also using a fisheye lens quite a bit too - which these days I find a bit gimmicky !But what also was very noticeable was the amount of upright images I used to shoot, and how many detail shots that I included. I still do detail shots and uprights but my style has developed more into a true record of the day with moments that happen being far more common within my collection of images that I present to the bride and groom.The images of Victoria and David from Sandhole Oak Barn are the ones from a blog post that I had on a previous website. If nothing else it proves that things within photography and styles are continually evolving. I have a few weddings booked into Sandhole Oak Barn in 2015 and I'm looking forward to seeing just how I can document the weddings in a much more natural and honest way.All images copyright sandhole oak barn weddings paul atherton photography 2015
